  • Wear clothes that cover you fully.

#10. Is Chikungunya virus infection contagious?

The virus of chikungunya is not considered as a contagious disease. This is because there is no direct transfer of chikungunya viruses from human to human.

But, in rear cases the chikungunya viruses may be transmitted from a mother to her newborn baby. Plus in some cases, it is also transferred by blood transfusion from an infected person.

Chikungunya disease does not cause death, but the symptoms can be severe and disabling.

World First Aid Day – 10 Sep – 2016

Today is a 10-Sep which is counted as a – World First Aid Day. But there is an irony regarding the fact that according to a CIA world factbook in India, the death rate is about 7 per 1000. Based on these statics, this means 8.4 million people die every year in India, which comes to 22,500 per day approximately.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) introduced World First Aid Day in 2000. Each year, more than 100 Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world organize events and ceremonies to raise public awareness of how first aid can save lives in every day crisis situations. This year, World First Aid Day is today – 10 September.
