Chikungunya is an ailment caused by a virus that spreads through mosquitoes bites.

• Take full rest.
• Drink fluids to prevent chances of dehydration.
• Take medicine such as paracetamol to reduce fever and pain.

• Get rid of stagnant water
• Use net to protect yourself from mosquitoes.
• Use mosquito repellants.
• Wear clothes that cover you fully.
• Keep your home and surroundings clean.

There is no vaccine currently available to cure chikungunya.

#10. Is Chikungunya virus infection contagious?

The virus of chikungunya is not considered as a contagious disease. This is because there is no direct transfer of chikungunya viruses from human to human.

But, in rear cases the chikungunya viruses may be transmitted from a mother to her newborn baby. Plus in some cases, it is also transferred by blood transfusion from an infected person.

#11. Is Chikungunya cause death?

Chikungunya disease does not cause death, but the symptoms can be severe and disabling.

World First Aid Day – 10 Sep – 2016

Today is a 10-Sep which is counted as a – World First Aid Day. But there is an irony regarding the fact that according to a CIA world factbook in India, the death rate is about 7 per 1000. Based on these statics, this means 8.4 million people die every year in India, which comes to 22,500 per day approximately.

This situation becomes worse, when we go deeper, and get to the fact that 10 deaths in a single minute are registered in India. This culminates the result that, contemporary, there is no security of a human life. And mostly the reason of increasing number of death is due to lack of first aid given to the particular person.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) introduced World First Aid Day in 2000. Each year, more than 100 Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world organize events and ceremonies to raise public awareness of how first aid can save lives in every day crisis situations. This year, World First Aid Day is today – 10 September.

There is a dreadful fact that – in every five seconds, someone in the world dies from an injury. Whether, we met with an accident or affected by a natural disaster, we are always at risk when it comes to emergencies. Anyone of us, can be affected anywhere and anytime.
